RECENSIONE di If We Fall di Nina Lane/ REVIEW of If We Fall by Nina Lane

Buona sera, bloggers e lettori!
E-PI-CO.

PREMESSA

TRAMA (DA GOODREADS)
Ci siamo innamorati.

Home.Home should be bright, colorful, happy. It’s not. But many of my memories are, which is what I need to focus on.(Josie Mays)
Alone is the only place I’ve ever been safe.(Cole Danforth)
Li vediamo partecipare in modo passivo agli eventi.
I’ve wanted so desperately for the truth of us to conquer the horror of what had happened to us.”(Josie Mays)
Datemi quelle risposte! Seriamente, ho finito il romanzo ieri notte e sebbene io abbia iniziato a leggere "Shattered Love" di Stacey Marie Brown, continuo a pensare quel finale da bomba.

Hi, sweeties! Yesterday night I finished this awesome-tastic book, and I honestly can’t wait to read book 2, because God, I need answers! I need them now! Hope you like my review :*

PREMISE
When I signed up for this cover reveal and blogtour, I knew there was a sequel and the books had to be read in a certain order. So, if I fell for Cole and Josie’s story in the prequel, in this first book I can say I’m totally in love with this couple-non couple. Nina, you shattered my heart so many times I’ve lost count, guess that’s means that you’re one of my favourite authors right now. The character’s story is not an usual story, but it reminded me of Veronica Mars and Logan: their love goes through time unaltered, even stronger than they were younger. These characters have marked my heart, after have it shattered, and it says a lot... a few books do this to me.

SYNOPSIS (FROM GOODREADS)
We fell in love. Then our world fell apart.

I wished so hard for Cole Danforth. And one day, he came true. He was my first boyfriend, my first lover, my first and only love. He should also have been my last.

But in a split-second, we were ripped apart, our lives broken, my heart shattered.

After ten years, I've returned to my hometown, the place of my greatest joy and darkest pain.

Cole is still here, but the beautiful boy I'd loved is gone. Now he's a ruthless, unforgiving man determined to feed both my hatred and my lust.

Then our torturous past encroaches again, trapping us in a violent storm.

But this time, there is no escape.

REVIEW
This first book takes place ten year after the accident that separated, in a way that seems permanent, Josie and Cole. But how the prequel ended? Let’s refresh the memory of it: Josie and her sister, the homecoming queen Vanessa, had prepared a party for their 25th anniversary of their parent’s marriage at the Seagull Inn. They were all happy, and her little brother Teddy was so nice and cute, I would give him a hug. But everything changed, when the accident took place in Highway 16, and the driver was Cole Danforth. After that, Cole did all he could to shy away Josie from him, considering himself a danger not only for her, but for everyone.

Ten years have passed, and after months and months of insomnia and hallucinations, Josie Mays returns to Castille to change this thing: the darkness is a constant in her life, a constat that provokes her a great dismay and unease. But above all, she put all her hallucinations on canvas, and can’t believe that people are loving it so bad. For her, that’s putting something bad in the world, rather than something good.

Home.
Home should be bright, colorful, happy. It’s not. But many of my memories are, which is what I need to focus on.
(Josie Mays)

The mural she’s asked by Allegra King to paint, is located directly at Cole Danforth’s office. Her Cole. But he isn’t that boy full of dreams anymore, instead he’s a hard business man, well, I must say liquor tycoon, taking down every little factory at a time, heading for the world. His company, Invicta Spirits, has done many things not correctly but the cash it’s not a problem for him. When they first met, different emotions sprawls between them: surprise, anger, sorrow. But Cole has learned to put up a wall with everybody, so he’s become more mysterious and cryptic than before. but there’s also a hardness in him that there wasn’t before. A hardness she can hardly recognize.

Alone is the only place I’ve ever been safe.(Cole Danforth)

As their relationship restarts, they must face their undeniable attraction for each other. This, mixed with the fact that they must come to terms with what they feel for each other, will push the story on. We see the flashback of ten years ago, just after the accident has happened and what other people told them, what happened to them. But one thing’s for sure: nothing is what it seems and unfortunately, Josie has just started to discover Cole’s darkest secrets.

The book is wonderfully written, the author, using a double POV – one is Cole’s POV and the other is Josie’s POV – that allows the reader to feel empathy and sympathy for the characters. I could almost feel their pain through the pages, a pain so shockingly real I can’t find another way to describe it. Yes, they are the same characters from “If we leap”, but ten years have left a hard mark on them.

“I’ve wanted so desperately for the truth of us to conquer the horror of what had happened to us.” (Josie Mays)

I salute you with a quote from this book, and I can already tell you that I can’t wait to read the sequel. I need answers! Give me those answers! Seriously, I’ve finished the book yesterday night and although I’ve started reading “Shattered Love” by Stacey Marie Brown, I still think of its ending.

“Now I want to bruise her, mark her as mine, leave no doubt that she will always belong to me.”
(Cole Danforth)
