RECENSIONE di Wonderful Love di Maggie Marr/ REVIEW of Wonderful Love by Maggie Marr

Buona sera, bloggers e lettori!

Beh, cosa aspettate? Prendete il Kindle e correte a conoscere Wondefuck!

TRAMA (DA GOODREADS)
***Pubblicato precedentemente come Wonderfuck and Mister WonderFULL***
Ho amato una volta.
E lei è morta di fronte a me.

Because I fuck. I fuck a lot. I don’t ask questions. Some women come alone. Some women come with engagement rings. Some with divorce stories. And some with bands of gold.I don’t care. We fuck. No hearts involved. That’s the beauty of the encounter. The physical connection, the endorphins, the serotonin boost to my brain – not enough to engage my heart. Not enough to encourage any part of me buy my cock. We fuck and then we’re finished, because I no longer have a heart, or the desire to be slapped around by that bitch named Love. Hope. Never. I gave Love my all, and she tore me to shreds when my heart, my love, my Susie, jumped from the thirty-second floor.(Wonderfuck)

(…) But there was real hear between us. Not one-night-stand heat, not even Wonderfuck heath, but the kind of heath you only get when there’s something real behind it. The realness scared the living shit out of me. I don’t do real. Not emotional real. I did emotional real once, or thought I did. Only one out of two survived. 50/50. I don’t like those odds. I don’t want to play those odds again.(Jake Reynolds)

"Love is bitch, but Betrayal is a whore; a well maintened whore who teases you with her smile. You don’t know she’s slit your throat and stolen your wallet until you’re two pints down."
(Jake Reynolds)

Hi, sweeties! After two long weeks of holidays, I’m back reviewing! The Christmas Holidays made me slow down with the reading of this book, that although I loved I couldn’t be able to post this review yesterday.

PREMISE
This is the first book I read written by Maggie Marr, and from its synopsis, I already knew it was two books in one. That is, this book is Wonderful Love FULL, while it was previously published as Wonderfuck and Mister Wonder. This new edition contains both books, I’ve finished one hour ago and I’m still trembling from the strong emotion it gave me. What a wonderful book! Thanks to The Next Step PR, that allowed me to read this pearl in the American market. I loved it so much!

SYNPOSIS (FROM GOODREADS)
***Previously published as Wonderf*ck and Mister WonderFULL****
I loved once.

And then she died right in front of me.

Sex and giving women pleasure are all I’m capable of now. And I’m good at it. A master.

Until my sexy neighbor drags me into her fucked up relationship.

Tara and I weren't friends. We were barely acquaintances. But one day there were tears and a fistfight with her McDouche fiancé, which lead to sex with her. And not just any sex.

The master got played, and now I want Tara and only her.

But having this woman means allowing the walls of my carefully crafted existence to come down. I can provide unlimited pleasure, but love? Not happening. Unless I’m willing to risk both of our lives with the nightmare of my past.

REVIEW
“Wonderful Love” is a hot romance, that focuses on Jake Reynolds and his life. Jake Reynolds is a super hot man, who works as a venture capitalist and has no problems involving money of whatsoever types. His problems, whoever, are hard and affect his life in many ways. But we have to do a step back. Before he became Wonderfuck. Because yes, the opening scene in this book involves Wonderfuck, Jake’s alterego, that has sex with a woman. Wonderfuck is no gigolo, his vocation is to make feel women better about themselves, to make them feel important again and while they are having sex with him, he forgets the pain that surrounds his life and give no space to joy or happiness. Jake is very careful of not mixing his lives together.

Everything changes when he has the chance to know better his neighbor, the beautiful and strong Tara Jennings. Tara is engaged to a man that both Jake and Tara herself call with a bunch of nicknames that are beyond funny! Tara’s fiancée is called Mr.Dochey, or better Mr.douch-nugget. Those moments are very funny in the book and they made me smile a lot! So, Tara and Greg break up, because she discovers him having sex with his secretary. This event will determine their closeness and the start of their relationship. What Jake doesn’t know is that Tara is an investigative journalist, and that she’s investigating on the story surrounding Wonderfuck. When Tara will discover this, Jake will fight with himself to decide which part of his life take over him. Whenever he tries to avoid Tara and the feeling he starts feeling for her, every time she does something that shakes his world to the core.

I don’t want to play those odds again.
(Jake Reynolds)

Jake isn’t alone through this story, because he has his family next to him who help him and guide him when the decisions he has to make are difficult. His Big Sis, Rachel is a judge in the city of Los Angles and is a tough one. She has a daughter, Lily, who Jake loves with all his heart. The bond between Lily and his Uncle Jake is so sweet that their dialogues melt my heart, it’s so sweet! The relationship between Jake and Rachel is similar to what all siblings have: sometimes they argue, sometimes they make peace, and sometimes they joke about everything. Rachel is the main leader of the house, mingling between the jobs and the difficulties of her life. One important character, however, it’s Jake and Rachel’s Mom, their mom have Alzahimer’s and she forgets their names and starts calling Jake Richard, like their father. Their family back-story it’s not a bed of roses, and this will influence some of the demeanors of their Mom.

As the story between Jake and Tara develops, we see the two worlds Jake has tried to divide, colliding. The climax will drive us directly to the second part of the story, in which we see Jake taking a little revenge on Tara. But will his love for her overcome these new difficulties? Will Tara show her true self and her true intentions to Jake? You will have to read the book to discover it.

The book was super well written, as from Jake’s POV, we are allowed to see his thoughts through the stream of consciousness and getting involved in his emotions towards everything happens to him. I must say that Jake was a very believable male character, in each chapter we don’t see the female-writer-point of view like it was likely to happen. We see a character utterly believable and true. And, as most female readers may have thought while reading the book, have desired to be one of the women that Jake saved with his sex and his acceptance of the beauty inside and outside each woman’s body. I must say that I found some editing mistakes in the book, for example the name of the nurse it’s Tatianna at the 50% and become Tatiana at the 70%, Kendall, the mom that fellates Jake is Kendall at the 40% and then Kendal at the 60% and then back again to Kendall almost at the end of the book.

This was a five-star read for me, and although I found those errors, for me it’s one of the best books to begin 2018 with. I advise this book to you all, and hope that you will read it, I greet from you with this quote:
“Love is bitch, but Betrayal is a whore; a well maintened whore who teases you with her smile. You don’t know she’s slit your throat and stolen your wallet until you’re two pints down.”
(Jake Reynolds)
