Forse è sbagliato toccarlo a mia volta. Forse questi contorti appuntamenti devono finire.
HOSTAGE è un pericoloso standlone romance dalle New York Times bestselling Skye Warren e Annika Martin.
Nobody know that.Nobody can know that this party is an elaborate charade.(Brooke Carson)
What you won’t see if the blood in the water. My dad always says you can’t let them smell blood. If the world is sharks, this whole party is about swimming past them, around them. Fooling them into believing you’re okay.(Brooke Carson)
He looks like the devil - the devil as a primitive thug, seething with hate.(Brooke Carson)
Her life was charmed – a pretty little rich girl at her sweet-sixteen party. Then she got a glimpse of me. Now she’s facing death or whatever the fuck I want to do with her. Which is a lot. She’s this pure thing in my control, and I’m bloody and horny, and I want to devour her. I want to press my face to those pushed-up tits above the edge of that dress and fuck her hard and fast.Skin smooth and pretty like an egg. But here’s the thing about an egg: when you break it, you get everything you want, but then it’s not smooth or perfect anymore. It’s just this dead thing. This is something I know a fuck of a lot about, let’s just say.And yeah, you can put yourself back together, but you’re never right afterward, not really. You’re cracked and misshapen and definitely not smooth and nice like this girl.(Stone)
“She’s more than a distraction to me. She’s a knife wound. A gunshot. A burn across every inch of my skin, making me weak.”

Hi, sweeties! Yesterday I’ve finished reading this amazing book written by Skye Warren and Annika Martin, and I’m over-excited to review it! Rarely I’m so thrilled and enticed by a book, and it says much about how awesome this book is.
PREMISE
I could be one of the early reviewers for this book. I’m thankful to The Social Butterfly PR that allowed me to read it beforehand. I look forward to read more book written by these two authors, because I’m sure I’ll love them as much as I loved “Hostage”.
SYNOPSIS (FROM GOODREADS)
I NEVER KNEW WHEN HE'D COME TO ME. ONLY THAT HE WOULD.
I’d never even kissed a boy the night I met Stone. The night I saw him kill. The night he spared my life. That was only the beginning.
He turns up in my car again and again, dangerous and full of raw power. “Drive,” he tells me, and I have no choice. He’s a criminal with burning green eyes, invading my life and my dreams.
The police say he’s dangerously obsessed with me, but I’m the one who can’t stop thinking about him. Maybe it’s wrong to let him touch me. Maybe it’s wrong to touch him back. Maybe these twisted dates need to stop. Except he feels like the only real thing in my world of designer labels and mansions.
So I drive us under threat, until it’s hard to remember I don’t want to be there.
Until it’s too late to turn back.
HOSTAGE is a dangerous standalone romance by New York Times bestselling authors Skye Warren and Annika Martin. It’s set in the same world as PRISONER, but can read separately!
REVIEW
Those of you who follows me on social media, know how much I liked this book and that I’d give it five stars even before finish it. Because this book it’s so good you won’t even want to finish it. But let’s talk about the book, back to the start: the main character in “Hostage” is Brooke Carson, a beautiful, shy and dutiful daughter who doesn’t know her true self, obliged to do what her parents want from her and obliged to maintain a polished façade for the press and her élite-school friends.
The day of the sweet-sixteen, a kind of rite of passage only for the rich kids of Franklin City. she witnesses a murder.
Brooke doesn’t feel at ease in his world, she considered it too fake to be even considered real, and wonders how the real world really is. After escaping her own birthday party, she sees one beautiful thug killing Mr. Madsen, a man she knew only by sight, wondering what did he do to be beaten like that. The fact that she witnessed a murder, creates a strong bond with her murder. She feels drawn to him in ways she can’t even explain, while on the other side she is afraid of him.
As the story develops, we get to know who that murder is. That murder is Stone, a sexy and beautiful young man - he is twenty years old – but he is also a kid inside. He wants to kill the men who tortured and abused him in that basement, ten years ago, and the fact that she witnessed it, complicated things beyond imaginable. The sparks between him and Brooke are almost immediate, and this makes him both attracted to her and withdrawn to her. He doesn’t see only a beautiful face, as she sees the real him beneath all the rage and the pain.
Stone can be cruel and with a cold heart, but the things will change as his strange relationship goes by. As Brooke acquire more confidence and rises her self-esteem and value, he understand that there are things you can’t control, no matter what you do it avoid them to happen. This kinda described the love between them. It’s not like the classical love story, and surely it reminds, at the beginning, of a sort of infatuation for her captor, a sort of Stockhol Syndrome. And I believed it almost till the end of the book. I won’t say anything about what happens between what I’ve told you and what will truly happen to his crew, because I’m on thin ice and I don’t want to spoiler you this wonderful book.
“Hostage” is written with a double POV, one from Brooke and one from Stone, in this way the reader can emphasize with the characters and feel on his skin their emotions. The characters were believable, tridimensional and enticing. As I said on my Facebook profile, this is one of the best dark romance novels I’ve read so far, and I consider this book a must read for the lovers of the genre.
I greet you with a quote from this amazing book, that I advise you to read, and then tell me what were your thoughts during the reading:
“She’s more than a distraction to me. She’s a knife wound. A gunshot. A burn across every inch of my skin, making me weak.”
