Buon giorno, bloggers e lettori! Oggi vi recensirò un romanzo molto carino, un New Adult che dopo avermi fatto dannare per gran parte della sua lettura, si è riscattato alla fine. Le mie amiche blogger che mi hanno assistito durante la lettura di quest'ultimo, infatti, si sono stupite quando alla fine ho dato quattro stelle.

PREMESSA
Ringrazio The Next Step PR per avermi permesso di recensire questo nuovo romanzo di Stacey Marie Brown, autrice che ho conosciuto grazie a "Buried Alive", un romanzo che è rientrato nella Top Ten dei miei romanzi in lingua preferiti. Ho avuto molti alti e bassi con questo libro, ad un certo punto mi sono annoiata così tanto che ho deciso di metterlo da parte perché stava diventando troppo difficile continuarne la lettura. Ho fatto bene a farlo, perché il distacco mi ha permesso di approcciarmi in modo più rilassato al romanzo. Spero che la mia recensione vi piaccia, buona lettura!

Ma quando l'irresistibile attrazione tra loro diventa più forte che mai, inizia a chiedersi se scoprirà mai i segreti che lui le sta nascondendo - o se voglia davvero farlo.



RECENSIONE
Questo non è il tipico romanzo new adult contemporaneo, è qualcosa di così intenso che vi spezzerà completamente il cuore, e poi ve lo sbriciolerà in mille pezzi. Ho provato una serie di emozioni così intensa che trovo molto difficile spiegarle ora, ma questo libro mi ha fatto provare tutti i feels.

Ma partiamo dal principio: Jaymerson Holloway è un membro della squadra delle cheeleaders, è una bionda molto bella, ma è una ragazza perduta. Non sa cosa vuole dalla sua vita, quali i suoi veri interessi siano e di cosa ha bisogno per diventare la donna che vuole diventare. E' la fidanzata del golden boy della scuola, lo sweetheart Colton Harris. La sua relazione con Colton è partita male fin dal principio, quando lui, subito dal primo capitolo, le chiede di andare a letto con lui e ciò ha fatto sentire Jaymerson più a disagio che mai. Un punto notevole del romanzo è senza dubbio dato dalla sua relazione con il fratello gemello di Colton, Hunter: Hunter è il tipico bad boy, tutto tatuato, massiccio, dai capelli scuri e gli occhi ancor più oscuri e lui, in apparenza, non sopporta Jaymerson allo stesso modo in cui lei non lo tollera.

Tutto cambierà nel momento in cui Colton si metterà alla guida ubriaco, nella jeep con Hunter e Jaymerson. Il loro mondo andrà a pezzi, e da allora, niente sarà mai più lo stesso.

Sopravvissuta all'incidente, Jaymerson si sente in colpa nei confronti di Colton, mentre la sua rabbia nei confronti di Hunter aumenta esponenzialmente, provocando una loro accesa discussione durante la riabilitazione - prima all'ospedale e poi in palestra. Solo Stevie, una gnocca intelligente, e molto aperta riguardo la sua sessualità (a mio avviso bisessuale), dice la verità a Jaymerson: tutto quell'odio porterà inevitabilmente all'attrazione tra di loro.

Un'attrazione così intensa, che minaccerà di dividerli sin dall'inizio della loro strana storia. Un'attrazione che farà, dopo tanto, mettere in discussione a Jaymerson ciò che vuole dalla sua vita e quali siano i suoi reali desideri.

L'angst è reale, non ho mai trovato così difficile scrivere una recensione come sto facendo ora. Penso che Stacey Marie Brown abbia raggiunto il suo top con questo libro, perché "Shattered Love" contiene tutto ciò che un buon libro dovrebbe avere, secondo me: drammi, relazioni complicate, ribellione e amore. Sì, perché l'amore è uno dei personaggi principali di questo romanzo, lo vediamo espresso in diversi modi, ma il più bello di essi è senza dubbio l'amore per le proprie imperfezioni e i propri difetti. E' questo che credo sia l'amore. L'amore vero accetta i difetti e le imperfezioni dell'altro senza battere ciglio, rimanendo al suo fianco sempre.

Tuttavia, qualche volta la vita è imprevedibile, e ci sono i momenti giusti per le persone giuste, e i momenti giusti per le persone sbagliate. Durante la lettura, ho sempre desiderato che Hunter e Jaymerson si mettessero insieme. Lo desidererete anche voi con forza. Ma no. La vita li dividerà di nuovo, portandoli in diverse direzioni, sebbene siano totalmente cambiati.

I shifted, sadness flooded my soul. “Don’t you see it? We are fighting a losing battle.”

He cupped my face roughly. “Then we fight harder.”

In tutta onestà, ho trovato il romanzo molto noioso in alcune parti. Credevo, dalla sinossi, che fosse scritto da un doppio POV (quello di Jaymerson e di Hunter), ma è tutto scritto dal POV di Jaymerson. Non mi è piaciuta molto questa cosa, perché alcuni capitoli erano molto noiosi e difficili da digerire, e sono convinta che il POV alternato sarebbe stato la scelta migliore per questo libro. Tuttavia, il mio voto finale è 4 stelle. Perché ho amato questo libro così tanto. Perché Stacey è una grande scrittrice e non vedo l'ora di leggere il sequel, nella speranza che la mia OTP torni insieme - e questa volta per sempre.

Hi, sweeties! I finished this book a week ago, but I suffered a tragic loss that week and I was mentally and psychologically unable to stand here at the pc writing. Hell, I wasn’t able to continue writing my novel’s sequel too – because it deals with a matter that’s unfortunately close to me: death. So, let me begin this review saying that the topic of the book is, right now, a bit difficult but I have to write this down before I even begin wondering if this is right or not. I don’t know when I will start writing my novel again, because I stopped before a crucial point and because of the topics, I need time to heal. Guess that reading in those weeks will help get through it very much, so let’s say that this review is my first step toward healing.

PREMISE
I knew Stacey Marie Brown thanks to the wonderful Kiki, owner of The Next Step PR. The first book of her that I’ve read is “Buried Alive”, one of my top favorites books of 2017. Needless to say, I love Stacey’s style and gorgeous characters – both inside and out.

REVIEW
This isn’t your typical new adult contemporary novel, it’s something so intense it will shatter completely your heart, after shredding it. I may have had feel a range of emotions so wide it’s difficult right now to explain, but this book makes you feel all the feels.

Let’s start from the beginning: Jaymerson Holloway is a member of the cheerleader squad, she’s blonde and is very beautiful, but she’s a lost girl. She doesn’t know what she wants from her life, what her real interests are, what she needs in order to become the woman she needs to be. She’s the girlfriend of high school sweetheart and golden boy, Colton Harris. Her relationship with Colton has gone under the rocks at the beginning, because he kept asking her to sleep with him, but Jaymerson hasn’t feel comfortable ever. A poignant point in the book is surely her relationship with her boyfriend’s twin brother: Hunter. Hunter is your typical bad boy: tall, dark, with a hot body full of tattoos, and he, apparently, doesn’t like Jaymerson too.

Everything will change the night Colton will drive drunk, in the jeep with Hunter and Jaymerson. Their world will be shattered, and from that moment on, thing won’t ever be the same.

Surviving from the car crash, Jaymerson feel guilty towards Colton, while her rage towards Hunter is so deep, it will cause them to fight even during rehabilitation – before at the hospital and then at the gym center. But only Stevie, a smart hottie, bisexual, tell Jaymerson the truth: all that hate will lead inevitably to the attraction between them.

An attraction so intense, it will menace to tear them apart from the start of their seemingly relationship. An attraction that will make Jaymerson question, finally, what she wants from her life, what her true desires are.

The angst is so real, I’ve never find it difficult to write a review like I’m doing right now. I think Stacey Marie Brown reached her peak in this book, because “Shattered Love” contains everything I think a book should have: drama, conflicted relationships, rebellion and love. Yes, because the love is the main characters in this book, we see it expressed in different way, but the most beautiful of all was: accept the other for what she/he is with all his flaws and imperfections. It’s what I’ve always believed love to be.

But sometimes, as life is unpredictable, there are right moments for the right people, and wrong moments for the right people. I always wanted Hunter and Jaymerson to be together. You will desire this strongly as I’ve wanted it. But no. Life will tear them apart again, taking them to different directions, although profoundly changed.

Honestly, I found this book boring in some parts. I thought, from the synopsis, it was written with a double POV (Jaymerson’s and Hunter’s POV), but it was all written from Jaymerson’s POV. I kinda didn’t like it, because some chapters are really hard to digest and read, and it would have fit better for the book an alternate POV. My final vote, although, is 4 stars. Because I loved this book so much. Because Stacey is a great writer, and I can’t wait to read the sequel, hoping that my OTP will be together again – and this time forever.
