RECENSIONE DI THE SILVER SWAN DI AMO JONES/ REVIEW OF THE SILVER SWAN BY AMO JONES

Buona sera, bloggers e lettori!

RECENSIONE
"The Silver Swan" non è il tipico libro new adult.

Ma no, lei litiga e discute sempre insieme a Bishop Vincent Hayes.

“Nothing and no one could give me a new beginning, Who was I kidding?”

Hi, sweeties! Today it’s a kinda strange day for me, I got to the nursery located in the center of my little town, and I got the terrible new that I, deep down, expected: I stripped myself, again, maybe for the fourth time, closer and closer to the tailbone. Shame on me, for wanting to do a little exercise, and a little of yoga. From this day on, I promise that I won’t be doing exercise with my body until I’m extremely sure that I won’t risk getting strapped again down there. It’s a feeling I don’t like, although I’m getting (unfortunately) used to it. I will do yoga again when I won’t risk anything beside getting my body in shape. So, in these three days, I’ve read this book – exciting, though – and I liked it a lot, it was very close to “THIS IS AMAZING!” kinda of book.

PREMISE
I love reading romantic suspense books, I love even more reading enemies-to-lovers romance, and this book, folks, was a mixture of both. I’m still undecided to where put it in the Chiara’s Reading Challenge, so I’ll have to look better about its genre. Anyway it is, I always love it. I am enthralled by books that have blood, sex and fights in it, and “The Silver Swan” has it all… so why did I give it only four stars? You will discover it only by scrolling through this post, and remember to comment it in the comment section or in my Facebook page.

SYNOPSIS (FROM GOODREADS)
Riddle me this...
“I am neither dead, nor alive, and I’m not something little Madison can hide.
But you will be dead, by the time this is done...
the timer starts now, and the games have just begun…”

Madison Montgomery comes from money and power, but when someone close to her commits the ultimate crime, Madison must live with her tainted name for the rest of her life. When she begins Riverside Preparatory Academy, the private school her father has swept her into in The Hamptons, she hopes for a fresh start. What she wasn't hoping for was the pack of bad boys who run the school; ten, to be exact. When Madison gains the attention of their leader, Bishop Vincent Hayes, a whole new world that she didn't think existed is exposed to her. A whole world that starts and ends with The Elite Kings Club and these boys, are about to flip her world upside down. Secrets are overflowing and family lies are about to be exposed. Is there more to Madison Montgomery than even she knows?

REVIEW
“The Silver Swan” it’s not your typical new adult book. It’s something more, and this more it’s conveyed in the book by the mixture of elements of suspense and elements of other books’ genres. I warn you: it’s advised that only readers above the age of 18+ should/could read it. Why? Well, it has some little scenes of dubious consent, and, above all it has some graphic scenes.

But let’s start from the beginning. Madison Montgomery is a rich girl that keeps moving from one city to the other, finding difficult to settling there with her dad and, in this way, finding also difficult to find friends in the cities she visits. She’s definitely not the “damsel in distress” kind of girl, she is able to use a gun and goes shooting regularly with her dad – when he’s home, lesser and lesser day by day. Her dad’s new bride, Elena Riverside it’s a strong and independent woman, who controls the high school where she and her new stepbrother goes in.

Nate Riverside is a hottie who is part of a larger, and even more dangerous, group of young men who manipulate, control and play with the lives of the people who dare to face them. I must admit, there was indeed some sexual tension between Nate and Madison, and I hoped for some incest story – I mean, I’m not even scandalized by it, if it has dark elements, give me all of them! But no, she fights and does numerous stare-downs with Bishop Vincent Hayes, the definition of tall, dark and brooding man. Bishop and Madison don’t like each other, but they will cede to their insatiable need for sex. A sex, well, very well detailed and super hot. Bishop it’s the kind of dominator man, and wants her to obey him blindly, even though they still fight and even still they hate each other. This hate is the major fuel of the novel, and it’s the top notch of it, as the story mainly develops around Madison, Bishop and the Elite Kings.

The Elite Kings, the ruler of Riverside Prep, are someone you should never cross your streets with. They are evil, manipulative and cruel, and like to play games. One thing that I love about it all, was the fact that the act like their circle was secretive, but in reality it wasn’t, and they liked the fact that people still talk about it. Because no one really know the truth, or what the truth really is.

There were some scenes I was hoping to read – hey, blame it on my PMS! – like some orgy scenes, but no. There isn’t – and there wasn’t – any of it. Instead, you come face front with a sexual tension and a crescendo of emotions that leaves you breathless. As said before, the story mainly develops around Bishop and Madison and their conflictual relationship, but we get to know much and I mean VERY MUCH of Madison’s two bestfriends: Tatum and Tillie.

As I read on, I found some editing error around chapter 20-21 like the color of Tillie’s hair, from the beginning pink and then pale pink and then brown, so I’m guessing she’s used something that didn’t still on her hair, like L’Oreal Colorista Colors. But also, I found it almost bothersome that there were editing errors in the use of “brought/bought”.

Nevertheless, this was a very good book. A book that kept me up all night wondering what would happen to Madison and to her friends, even her enemies – like Ally. Fast-pace, written only by Madison’s POV, it allows the reader to feel empathy for her and feel her feelings on your skin. So, this is why I gave it four stars. I could have gave it five stars, if I didn’t find those errors, but I’m so nit-picky that I can’t control myself if I find them.

I salute you with a quote from the book, advising you to all read it and comment in the section of my blog and my Facebook page. If you’re looking for a book full of suspense and sex, this is the book right for you:
“Nothing and no one could give me a new beginning, Who was I kidding?”
